Ugh... Took Little Halo to see the Christmas parade in town, and ended up sore as hell yesterday after sitting on the cold concrete for almost an hour and a half. The wind howled all around the little cottage, rocking the shutters and blowing away the smoke from the chimney. The white flakes flew haphazardly, stirring across the snow-covered roof, collecting in the doorways, and icing the windows.

Though the storm raged on outside, inside, it was toasty warm. The light from the fire set their shadows on the walls as they snuggled in bed. Soft sounds echoed, hands grazed along skin, seeking and sharing the warmth.

Harry sighed, drew the blanket up to his chin and lay back against Draco. Together, they watched the embers die before slumber took them.

Harry hopped the barrier, slipping and sliding across the ice toward the ticket rental booth.

Draco shook his head and drew his wand. "Bloody Gryffindor idiot." He watched Harry tug on the skates. Carefully, he flicked his wand at Harry, casting a Cushioning Charm when Harry began to wobble his way across the rink.

Draco gave a mock-snore in answer.

Harry eased up the window, scooping up the fresh snow and packed it into a ball. Taking aim, he threw it at lump that was Draco's blanketed head.

"Ow!"

Harry set the pumpkin down with the others and tapped them with his wand, illuminating the jack-o-lanterns. He sighed as he looked up at Draco. "I realize that, Draco. They'll look nice on the lawn for the trick-or-treaters."

Draco flicked his wand at the pumpkins then smirked at the transformed faces. "There, that's better!"

Harry scowled. "I wanted to welcome them, not scare them away."

Draco rolled his eyes. "Bloody blighters can beg for handouts somewhere else. That's my candy."

Draco clung to Harry as they flew over London, the night wind whipping at their hair. He stared at the bright lights in the big city as they passed over Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square.

They skirted Tower 42, Lloyds Building, the River Thames and the Tower Bridge, all sparkling with a brilliance that glittered in the mist.

Harry turned the broom, buzzing past the Muggle Houses of Parliament before coming to a stop next to the large face of Big Ben. Leaning forward against Harry's back, Draco sighed. "All right, Muggles can do some beautiful magic of their own."

Worth The Waiting

Draco watched the house elf place his and Harry's clothing in the trunk, finishing up the last of the packing before the trip to Wiltshire. Rolling his eyes and sighing, he strode out of the room to search for Harry. It was a bloody simple sojourn to his parents' home. Travelling shouldn't be this difficult; they were wizards, for Merlin's sake!

Spying Harry kneeling beside their son as he helped the boy decided which toy to take along, though, brought a small smile to Draco's face. Perhaps the extra time the added preparations had taken was worth it after all.
