Bent But Not Broken

I don't know how many of you are following ownficfest but there are some awesome fics going up there right now. Check it out and see if something there tickles your fancy. Now, since I did my obligatory pimp, and yes, I am participating in it, no, my fic has not posted. See if you can figure out which one is mine when it does post. *g*

Anyway, I want to point out one to you that is simply gorgeous.

Author's Note: Originally for the Omniocular June 2007 'Mentors' Challenge, Prompt #24: Black sisters being taught how to be proper ladies. Title comes from Puccini's Tosca, and translates to 'Concealed harmony'. The duet referenced is Franz Schubert's 'Fantasia in F minor, D940, Op. 103'. Many thanks to rosamund for helping me through the tough bits and beta-reading.

This is fairly short but wonderfully written. The author delved into the lives of the Black Sisters with such a subtle flair and understated elegance that the entire piece feels like a page ripped out of canon. Only better because this author has their shit together. *g* I won't spoil it for you, but I loved how the sisters were tied together through more than just their names, society, and family. Each sister is briefly visited and made "real" to the reader before moving on to the next. The conclusion is breathtakingly gorgeous and rounds out the piece perfectly without being overdone or sappy. It's just how things are done by the Black Sisters.

Go! I urge you to check this wonderful character study fic out and leave the author some love.

I am still reading and commenting on some fics, however, I promised to post some Team Snitch fic recs. Again, these are my favorites and YMMV. Please click at your own risk as the links may lead to adult content.

Even though I have never seen this comic before, ships_harry's art and the chosen typeset used to highlight the story, made me want to go find it. I just spent a good hour reading Watch the Sky by mnemosyne_1. This was written for the 30 Days of Neville fest on xnevillelovingx. I was thoroughly enthralled with this fic, and even though my first inclination is to pair Neville with Bill, mnemosyne_1 does a beautiful job of making me see how the relationship with Charlie could happen.

I just spent the most glorious time reading a wonderfully funny and delightful fic on the LJ comm Harry_holidays. Well written, deliciously funny, hot and fluffy! I won't tell you much more about it except to say that it is well worth the time to stop during all the hussle and bussle of your holiday preparing to read.

Okay, I admit it. I love getting things, just like everyone else does even if we don't want to admit it. LOL! But, I have been especially gifted this year! I wrote a a fic and a pinch for snarry_holidays and no, I won't tell you which either one is, but I have been gifted with a most wonderful fic in return for my pinch this morning!

Now, most of you know I don't rec alot of D/s fics and it's because of how I feel about the reputation that D/s and BDSM has on the internet. HOWEVER, this fic, spoke to me and not just because it was gifted to me, because it originally wasn't written for me. I feel that it does justice to the real reasons behind the submissive's thoughts for getting into a relationship of this nature. It's beautifully done, in my opinion. And please remember, this is MY feelings and opinion on it. One person. I am, by no means under any dictionary's explanation, an expert on the subject and do not want or claim to be.
