Restless Sleep

Draco always slept soundly in his bed, the curtains pulled shut, enclosing him in a dark, quiet cocoon. At home, he was safe and sound, secure behind the family wards.

At Hogwarts, Draco's nightly routine was undisturbed, and he still slept peacefully no matter what occurred in the hallowed halls. Until his Sixth Year. Nightmares plagued his sleep, stealing his sanity. That was entirely his own fault as he'd let the wolf in himself.

Draco learned that there much to fear in the light as well as the dark. Sleep had forsaken him while things went bump in the night.

Echoes Of The Past

At night, he walked the halls, searching for students out of bed. At least, that's what he told himself as he listened for the sounds of footfalls that fell out of step with his own. Quiet voices and giggles that gave away hiding places for trysting young witches and wizards were also heard without any modification charms on his ears.

But as the hours grew later and the students were all sent back to their dorms, punishments duly dealt with and handed out, Severus was certain that he could hear Lily's voice echoing through the dungeons and whispering his name.

Harry stared, disbelieving the sight as he tried to form the words to speak around the lump in his throat. Before him, put back together after it had crashed out from under him and Hagrid so long ago, was Sirius's motorbike.

He ran a hand over the shining chrome, the smooth leather seat then swung his leg over. He wrapped his hands around the grips and took a deep breath as he reached forward and turned the key.

The engine roared to life as Harry stomped down on the starter, and he grinned up at Arthur. "Thank you," he whispered.

His hands slid over Harry's skin, gliding over the planes of his chest and stomach as he arched into the caresses. Harry closed his eyes while the calloused fingers grazed along sensitive skin, scratching and clawing, and drawing a moan from his throat.

Lips kissed a wet trail down his neck, sucking a bruise on his damp skin. Harry writhed under the focused attention; each sound, each breath pulled from his mouth drew Harry closer to the edge.

Harry's clenched fingers, bowed back, and his shout as he came was all the praise Ron needed to satisfy his own needs.

Taking a deep breath, Neville readied himself for the day and reached for the doorknob. He was pulled back, held tightly against a strong chest. He closed his eyes, leaned into the embrace and sighed. Now, this was a nice dream.

"Ignore them and have a good day."

Neville grinned as Harry pressed a kiss to the back of his neck.

As the players took the field, Neville watched them zoom across the sky. "Did you see that?! Oliver waved at us!"

Neville turned to Harry, who was still watching Neville. "Why aren't you watching the match?"

Harry shrugged, smiling at Neville. "I have seen Wood play before. I've never seen you at the World Cup."

Walking down the cool hallways, this time with his head held high, Severus weaved his way through the castle to the dungeons. His fingertips grazed the bricks and mortar, feeling the life and magic in the castle's walls until he came to the proper portrait. These would be his rooms. Thank Merlin; he never had to return to that ungrateful bastard's house unless he so desired.

Severus continued around the corner to the large, heavy, oak door and looked in on the empty classroom. He stepped inside, sighed, and vowed to make good on his promise to her... and Dumbledore.

Filthy Minded

Draco couldn't believe Longbottom was the Herbologist hired to restore the Malfoy lands to their former glory. It seemed such a shame that the heir to one of the oldest pureblood families had been reduced to such menial labour. However, it suited the clumsy boy he remembered.

Draco watched Longbottom as he worked, moving from plot to plot, getting dirtier and completely unaware of the scrutiny.

Once finished, Longbottom stood and stretched, removing his shirt to wipe away the grime from his face. Draco arched a brow at Longbottom's toned abdomen; perhaps he needed to rethink his opinion of Longbottom.

Severus entered Hogwarts with excitement, and a bit of apprehension in his heart. Headmaster Dumbledore watched over them all as they took their places in new Houses.

Each year Dumbledore's blue-eyed twinkle shined a little less on Severus, and he turned a blind eye to that, for it was another shade that had captured his attention.

But affections and emotions are fickle as Severus soon learned. He returned to Hogwarts and Dumbledore covered in blood, sweat, and tears to repay his debt. An unbreakable vow made in honour of envy sealed Severus's fate when he learned of the babe's survival.
