Bent But Not Broken

In chat the other night, I had the slashinistas pick out prompts from my table so I could try and finish it up. Here's the results.

Neville likes the quiet. Time alone. It lets him think. Gives him moments to reflect on all that has happened in his life. It's not that he doesn't value his time with Bill, he does.

Sometimes though, when it's late and dark outside, Neville looks up at the night sky. Gazes up at the stars shining brightly, then suddenly the world opens up around him and it's terribly large. He closes his eyes tight and makes a wish upon the heavens.

He feels Bill's arms wrap securely about him, squeezing him gently, grounding him. He knows he's no longer alone.

Neville had died and gone to heaven. Never had he felt like this. In fact, he was quite certain that if someone were to ask, he could definitely say that it was Bill that had caused his demise.

He moaned loudly as Bill worked his body, giving him the royal treatment. Bill's strong hands played over his skin, easing out the tense muscles and loosening up his joints.

Arching into the touches, Neville wondered if there was any way he could convince Bill to give up his job at Gringotts and shackle him to the bed to continue his massages.

Bill should have known it was futile to resist. Once a Gryffindor made up their mind to complete a task then the end result was set in stone. Not that his decision to quit was a bad one, not by any stretch of the imagination. It was just that, well… he didn't quite exactly know why he'd continued to withstand Neville's advances so many times before.

He glanced over at Neville as he climbed out of his bed and padded to the loo. He tilted his head, admiring Neville's arse, and was once again grateful that he'd finally given in.

Bill and Neville exited Ward Forty-nine. Bill hated the trips to London, despised what they did to Neville, but he always made them with Neville. Neville clung to Bill's hand, their fingers twined together tightly. Bill pulled Neville close, wrapping his arms about him as they Floo-ed home.

Stepping out onto the hearth, Bill sighed out a deep breath as Neville finally broke. He ran his hands soothingly up and down Neville's broad back, waiting out the storm of emotions.

Carefully, he prized the wrapper from Neville's palm, and together, they pasted it on the page in the family album.

Neville jumped at the sound of his softly spoken name. He turned and found Molly standing at the parlour door.

"What are you doing, dear?"

Neville blushed. Molly grinned.

"Ah, I see Bill still tries to sneak a peek. Let me teach you a charm I used while the boys were young. It doesn't hurt too badly."

"Mum!"

It was new, this fragile and breakable thing between them. Neville wanted to tread carefully. He had been hurt before. He knew Bill had been as well.

It had taken nearly six months of Neville arranging accidental meetings, surprise gifts, spontaneous Floo-calls, and finally, an outright demand as to why Bill wouldn't acquiesce to his advances.

Bill had looked him in the eye, searching his face.

Neville felt his heart skip several beats, nearly missing Bill's whispered answer.

"I'm afraid I'm too broken for you."

Neville cupped Bill's scarred cheek. "I'm willing to put the pieces back together," he promised.
